Darlington is very well placed for anyone who wants to explore some of the attractions and wonderful countryside, which is not far away. Close to Herriot's Yorkshire Dales and the Heartbeat Country of the North Yorkshire Moors, there is also the Beamish Open Air Museum - a faithful recreation of Victorian life in the North East and well worth a visit, or High Force, in Upper Teesdale with its picturesque and spectacular waterfall. Then there is Hamsterley Forest, the largest forest in County Durham with miles of woodland walks and a Nature Reserve - the home of David Bellamy. |
